The Situation:
The Youth for Climate France collective, born after the call for a school strike launched by
the young Swede Greta Thunberg, calls in particular for a march on Friday, 24 May, in Paris
(departure at 13h from the Place de l'Opéra). Dozens of other rallies are planned in cities such as Bordeaux, Nantes, Rennes, Lille, Nancy, Lyon, Marseilles, and Toulouse.
Possible Effects:
Possible protests or demonstrations at airports, in the city center, and near government buildings
Traffic delays due to strikes and demonstrations.
Blocked roads
Mitigating Factors to Apply:
Avoid all protests and demonstration, which have the possibility of turning violent
Allow extra time to travel
Avoid traveling through city centers and take bypasses
Monitor local and social media for updates
Enroll in the Safe Traveler program (STEP) to receive warnings from the U.S. Embassy
