Quick Tips in this Episode:
Protecting your information
Don't paste passports, IDs, itineraries, client names, or anything proprietary into an AI tool. Assume anything you type could be stored.
Use your company's approved AI tool, not a personal account. Free tools often keep your data.
Turn off chat history when traveling. Your conversations can reveal your entire trip.
Checking what it tells you
Confirm anything that matters with a primary source. For travel, that means entry requirements, safety advisories, and local laws: check the State Department or the embassy, not the chatbot.
Match the checking to the stakes. A restaurant pick is fine as is. Visa rules or a security decision are not.
Defending against AI-powered scams
Agree on a code word with family and your office. If a call sounds like your boss or your kid asking for money or urgent help, ask for the word or hang up and call back on a number you already know.
Treat urgency as a red flag. Deepfake and phishing scams depend on pressure. Slow down and verify through a different channel.
Be careful on hotel and airport Wi-Fi. Use a VPN or your phone's hotspot for anything sensitive, AI included.
