Malaysia held elections on 19 November resulting in a hung parliament (or no majority winner). The King will meet with his council to discuss and choose a new Prime Minister on 24 November. Unrest in the days to weeks leading up to and after is possible.
Due to concerns of unrest authorities placed roadblocks nationwide and increased local police presence. Heightened security measures are expected in and around the National Palace in Kuala Lumpur. Authorities noted roadblocks will not be used during peak hours or during the day.
Travelers should plan for possible travel disruptions and avoid government buildings, local squares and party offices due to possible unrest.
