The Situation:
Expo Tel Aviv is set to host the Eurovision song contest 14-18 May with contestants from 50 countries and approximately 40,000 people estimated to attend. Major transportation disruptions can be expected.
Officials have reported heightened security measures with military and police presence in and surrounding Tel Aviv and Ben Gurion Airport as safety precaution due to increased travelers. Officials also reported disruptions in traffic with several barricaded roads. Extra security at checkpoints with additional security screening, including at customs and immigration with longer wait times can be expected.
Possible demonstrations may also cause traffic congestions and additional road blocks.

Blocked roads due to demonstration or police blockades
Increased police and military presence
Major traffic delays and detours around Ben Gurion Airport and Expo Tel Aviv
Longer wait times at checkpoints including customs and immigration
Mitigating Factors to Apply:
Adhere to police and military direction and avoid areas where authority is present
Avoid all protests and large crowds, which have the possibility of turning violent
Allow extra time to travel to/from the airport, supplier, and accommodations
Allow extra time at airport due to increased travelers and security checks
Allow extra time for passing through checkpoints
Take bypasses and highways, and avoid driving through/near Tel Aviv
Allow extra time if using public transportation
Monitor local and social media for updates
Enroll in the Safe Traveler program (STEP) to receive warnings from the U.S. Embassy
