Two protests planned for Wednesday, July 17:
Protesters plan on disrupting the annual Hong Kong Book Fair which is being held at Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Center 17 – 23 July. (Blue book icon on map)
Elderly protesters are planning a silent march at 5 pm (local time) from Chater Garden (green walker icon on map) to Tamar Park (red walker icon on map). Exact route not known.
Sunday, July 21 – a mass rally in Admiralty is being organized by Civil Human Rights Front
Sunday, July 28 – demonstrations in To Kaw Wan and Tseung Kwan O. Details still
pending.
Possible Effects:
Likelihood of escalations in actions during future protests and demonstrations from both protesters and law enforcement
Disrupted modes of transportation
Increased presence of law enforcement personnel and an increased willingness to use force against protesters
Increases in traffic, especially near protest sites
Roads blocked by protestors with little to no notice
Protests which have the possibility of turning violent, especially after dark
Mitigating Factors to Apply:
Avoid all protests, demonstrations, and large crowds, which have the possibility of turning violent
Avoid discussing political topics in public or on social media
Exercise caution if unexpectedly in the vicinity of large gatherings or protests.
