The Situation:
Unions representing Alitalia flight personnel and airport ground staff have announced
plans for a countrywide strike scheduled on Monday, 23 September. Participants are
planning to strike between 10:00 and 14:00 (local time) on Monday.
Transportation-related strikes are frequent in Italy and can be highly disruptive. However,
in accordance with Italian law, minimum levels of services must be guaranteed during all
industrial and social actions.

Possible protests or demonstrations at airports
Traffic delays due to strikes, demonstrations, etc.
Blocked roads due to demonstrations
Delayed or cancelled flights
Mitigating Factors to Apply:
Avoid all protests and demonstration, which have the possibility of turning violent
Check with airline to confirm flight status before departure
Allow extra time for travel
Monitor local media and news for updates
