The Indian Meteorological Department forecast heavy rains and strong winds in the northern coast of the Tamil Nadu region from 7-9 December. The weather department predicts upcoming rain will likely make up for the deficit of rainfall seen by the region in November. Tamil Nadu is likely to see further alerts as there have been cyclonic storms in the area every December since 2016. Six teams of the national disaster response force have been deployed to the area.
Flooding, landslides, and coastal surges are possible. Travelers should avoid traveling through flooded areas and should maintain communication with a trusted contact throughout the remainder of their trip.
