The Situation:

The weekend of the 16th and 17th of November marks the first anniversary of the Yellow

Vest Movement. Demonstrations are planned throughout the country from the 15-17

November with demonstrations in Paris gathering the largest participation. See the link for

a complete list of scheduled demonstrations.

Transportation disruptions of main thoroughfares and large crowds are expected.

Possible Effects:

  • Large crowds

  • Protests or demonstrations in major cities, some unplanned

  • Traffic delays

  • Blocked roads

Mitigating Factors to Apply:

  • Avoid all protests and demonstration, which have the possibility of turning violent and can attract unwanted attention

  • Allow extra time for travel

  • Avoid travel through major cities if possible, instead using bypasses

  • Monitor local media and news for updates

  • Follow the advice of local law enforcement

  • Enroll in a safe traveler program to receive warnings from your preferred embassy
