Weather Alert-Germany and France

On 29 June, throughout France and Germany multiple weather alerts have been issued for heavy thunderstorms with heavy rain, gusts, and potential hail. The storms are expected to weaken by late evening. Isolated storms may be intense.

Flash and areal flooding is possible, especially in areas where the soil is saturated from previous storms. Such flooding could occur in low-lying communities near watercourses and other bodies of water, as well as in urban areas with easily overwhelmed or a lack of stormwater drainage systems. Sites located downstream of large reservoirs may be subject to flash flooding after relatively short periods of intense rainfall. Rain-induced landslides cannot be discounted in areas of elevated terrain. The adverse weather conditions could cause sporadic power outages throughout the affected area through at least June 30.

Active weather alerts can be found at National Meteorological for Germany, Meteo Alarm EU, and AccuWeather
